The Speck MultiCyclone 12 Ultra is a two-stage pool pre-filter. Twelve hydrocyclones spin heavier dirt and sediment into a clear chamber, and a cartridge element with 6.9 m² (75 ft²) of filter area — nearly twice that of the 12 Plus — catches finer material. It has 50 mm connection ports, a maximum working pressure of 350 kPa (50 psi), stands approximately 944 mm tall and weighs about 12.8 kg.

Pool water enters at the bottom, is forced down through the cyclones, and the grit spins out and settles in the clear chamber. Only then does the water pass the element. Watch the cutaway on the range page — it is one minute and it explains the whole thing better than a paragraph can.
